Earlier this season Morgan Rielly hit Ridley Greig with a cross check after the rookie used a slap shot to score an empty net goal. At the time, Rielly was made out to have blown the entire situation out of proportion. The Senators were furious and the Maple Leafs once again became the punchline to another joke.

Tonight however, it was th Senators who felt that there was the violation of 'The Code'. As the Devils fought to hold onto a 4-3, the puck comes out of the defensive zone and is picked up by Nico Hischier. Hischier carried the puck into the offensive zone and instead of hammering home a stat padding goal, he instead let time expire.

After time expired Hischier let the puck slide into the empty net and Brady Tkachuk was furious. Brady immediately rushed down the ice and tried to get at Hischier, but was prevented by his teammates.

Nico Hischier puts the puck into the empty net after the final horn and Brady Tkachuk goes berserk 😳

After officials tried to break things up, Tkachuk tried to separate and fight Brendan Smith. Luckily for Tkachuk he was prevented by the officials and eventually cleared off the ice as once again his team was eliminated from playoff contention.

Surprisingly the only penalty handed out on the play was a minor penalty to Hischier.
