Things in the Battle of Ontario are at an all time high after Ottawa Senators forward Ridly Greig blasted the puck into an open net in the dying seconds of the game last night.
While fans are divided on whether Morgan Rielly's crosscheck was justified or not, but to the players, the answer is pretty clear, even Senators veteran and long time NHLer Claude Giroux doesn't think what Greig did was appropriate; take a look.
Giroux on the Rielly hit: «Sometimes that stuff happens.»
The players clearly know what's up and understand the situation.
Suspension? Of course but Rielly had to react to it.
Let's be honest, if he didn't do anything then the «Leafs are soft» narrative would be on fire rn.
The thing about this is, if the player on the Ottawa Senators really took exception to Rielly's response, you'd never hear the end of it. That's a fact.
Giroux's sometimes that stuff happens' quote speaks volumes. The players know Rielly had the right and the responsibility to react the way he did.
