The ex-NHL enforcer Kelly Chase announced a devastating diagnostic in a recent update on social media.

A year ago, Kelly Chase, the former NHL player, was diagnosed with leukemia, and after going through a long battle, he just shared a terrible update on X.

While he usually posts about the St. Louis Blues, he took a break from hockey to announce that his cancer is back and plans on fighting it.

He wrote that he has a lot of support, and hopes to beat the cancer once again. He also added that thankfully, he had a brother with 100% bone marrow match, which will help his recovery.

"I hesitated to say anything, but so many people are sending me notes so here goes . Yes I have a Round 2 with this punk called leukemia. With the support of these amazing Doctors @SitemanCenter and all my friends prayers and support, we are hoping for a similar outcome as Round 1. I am ready to fight again and have a brother with 100% bone marrow match. I truly am grateful for everyone reaching out. I got this."

Chase played in the NHL between 1989 and 2000. He mostly wore the St. Louis Blues uniform, and also spent time with the Hartford Whalers and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He scored 53 points in 458 regular season games, and two points in 27 playoff games.

Hockey fans especially remember his physical style, which led to 2017 penalty minutes in the regular seasons, and 100 in the playoffs.

He notably won a King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 1998 for his work in the community and his leadership qualities.

We'd like to extend our best wishes as he goes through the second round of his fight against Leukemia!
