One would like to think a career that included more than 500 regular season games in the NHL would leave someone with a comfortable nest egg at the very least. A cushioning to soften a hard crash. That isn't always the case, though. Former Canadiens forward Steve Begin says he's declaring bankruptcy.
Begin is likely best known for his time with the Montreal Canadiens. Steve Bégin was a depth player, getting mostly fourth line minutes wherever he played, but endeared himself to Habs fans with his fiery attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes to win. Drafted by Calgary in the second round of the 1996 draft, Begin suited up for the Flames, Canadiens, Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins, and Nashville Predators before returning to the Flames for his final season in 2012-2013
Begin has now announced on Facebook he has no choice but to file for bankruptcy because a company he put money into is doing the same.
Begin expressed his sadness with the situation, adding it's been a very tough time.
In 524 regular season games over the course of his career, Steve Begin put up 56 goals, 108 points, and 561 PIM.
