Former Olympian passes away
Losing someone is never easy, but when you're not expecting it, or it happens to someone at a young age, nothing seems fair. This is one of the most unfortunate things to have to report on, a hockey player leaving us unexpectedly.
The hockey community is grieving with the news that former Norwegian National Team player Alexander Reichenberg has left us at the age of 31.
During Reichenberg's most recent season of professional hockey with Lillehammer, he scored 21 goals, assisting on 23 others for 44 points across 41 games played in the Norwegian League. He was also fortunate to have made stops in Czechia, Sweden, and Austria during his career.
Through fifty games donning the Norwegian colors, including the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeonchang, South Korea, he tallied 11 goals with 24 points.
One thing you can say about Reichenberg is that he was devoted to both club and country, something that is sure to be admired and it's a hole that can't be filled.
Those of us here at Blade of Steel offer our heartfelt condolences to the friends, family, teammates, and anyone else that Alexander touched and inspired during his life. This is truly heartbreaking and is happening too often.
