Mark Stone of the Vegas Golden Knights as missed the back half of the year due to an injury to his spleen that caused the Golden Knights to place him on injured reserve, but it looks like he could make his lineup in game against the Dallas Stars. Something that I'm sure nobody saw coming.
According to Jesse Granger of The Athletic Golden Knights, captain Mark Stone is on track to play in game one against the Dallas Stars Monday night; Take a look.
Stone, 31, played in just 56 games for the Vegas Golden Knights this season collecting a total of 53 points Including 16 goals and 37 assists. He hasn't played since February 20 against the Nashville Predators.
Stone, of course, has been out because an injury is sustained to his spleen, which at the time many thought would be serious and potentially career threatening, but it appears that it's just another case of the Vegas Golden using long-term injured reserve to circumvent the cap who would've thought.
At this point, the national hockey league needs to look at a rule change that won't allow players that haven't played in a certain amount of regular season games to play in the playoffs. This is getting out of hand the way they've been able to use their LTIR cap situation is downright sickening.
