We've seen some tragedies in the hockey world lately, and now a new story has been revealed of a 17-year old in New York tragically losing his life during a game for charity.
During a recent charity game played in the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center in New York, the unthinkable happened, as 17-year old Connor Kasin would pass away in tragic circumstances.
The Massapequa High School student reportedly suffered a medical episode, with the school releasing this statement on the tragedy:
"It is heartbreaking to report that Connor did not survive. His passing is devastating to the Massapequa community, and we offer our deepest condolences to Connor's family and friends."
While there was some confusion around the situation, the school has given further details in a letter to fellow students.
"It is with saddened hearts that we inform you of the passing of a 12th grade student. He experienced a sudden medical event during a varsity ice hockey game last night and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. It is heartbreaking to report that he did not survive."
His passing wasn't due to the efforts from the community in attendance, as many of those people reportedly tried their best to give medical aid until paramedics arrived, but unfortunately, it just wasn't enough.
The 17-year old was reportedly a fantastic student and a great teammate to all those he played with on the Long Island Sharks over the past four years, making this sudden, shock tragedy all the more devastating.
We take this time to send our condolences to the family, friends, teammates and classmates of Kasin, and hope that during the toughest time of their lives they can find some joy in the memories that Connor brought them throughout his life.
