Hockey World Mourning Yet Again After 16 Year Old Rising Star Tragically Passes Away
The 16U AAA Connecticut Chiefs are mourning the loss of Will Neeb, a center that had a lot of potential in the sport.
Last month was tough for the hockey world as we mourned the loss of several young men including Greek goaltender Dimitris Skotis who passed away at the age of 28.
Now we are once again mourning the loss of a young man in the sport.
Will Neeb was born in raised in Connecticut where he developed a passion for several sports including hockey and lacrosse.
At 16, he already stood at 6'3" giving him a solid frame to develop his skills around and it was working out quite well for him this season.
Through 22 games this season, he lead the Chiefs in scoring with 12 goals and 25 points.
Sadly, he passed away last month in a fatal car accident involving a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
After the accident his teammates huddled and took a knee on the ice in honor of their late teammate.
According to his coaches, Will was not only a good hockey player, but a great person with so much love for the sport.
He was loved by his teammates and looked up to as a leader both on and off the ice.
"Shortly after being recruited for the 16U AAA Full Season team, Will immersed himself in training with Coach Trent, driven by his unwavering love for hockey. Will's relentless work ethic, positive attitude, and leadership by example made him not only a standout athlete but also a beloved teammate. His presence on and off the ice will be deeply missed."
This sentiment was not specific to hockey either. Neeb was also an avid lacrosse player, and his team put out a similar statement about him after his passing.
"He was an outstanding athlete and a favorite with his coaches and teammates. Will showed leadership and selflessness on the field, and always set an excellent example for the players around him. He will be remembered as a kind, polite, coachable, and all around great kid."
Neeb will be dearly missed by his friends, family, and teammates. Rest in peace Will.
