Igor Shesterkin gets into it with Sidney Crosby
Both Igor Shesterkin and Sidney Crosby are passionate players. They both expect the best out of themselves and their teams, so when the two players collided tonight it was clear that neither player was going to back down.
Tonight the longtime rivals are facing off at Madison Square Garden, when Crosby chased the puck behind the Rangers net. As Shesterkin comes out to play the puck around the boards, Crosby takes an opportunity to slash at the goaltender. Unlike other players Shesterkin didn't back down and immediately engaged Crosby.

After the second period the Penguins lead the Rangers 2-0. The Penguins are still fighting hard to try and keep their playoff hopes alive, while the Rangers are looking to try and secure the top spot in the Metropolitan Division. With a victory tonight the Penguins could sit as little as five points out of the last playoff spot, but with so many teams in the mix it is difficult to believe they will completely close the gap.
To make matters worse for the Penguins, the team traded their first round pick this summer to the San Jose Sharks as part of the Erik Karlsson trade. While the pick is top 10 protected, a win tonight will move the Penguins outside of the top 10 in draft picks and could set their rebuild back even further.
