There's been speculation and rumours for quite a few years about Ford, Mitch Marner, and how he handles Being a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, especially when it comes to handling the media. He's been branded, the sensitive, not able to handle the pressure and downright arrogant among other things.
As it turns out former head coach, Sheldon Keefe had to tailer how he would speak to Marner due to his sensitive nature, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. Something that fans have been saying for years.
Time and time again, Marner is proven his inability to block out the noise and the pressure that comes with playing in a market like Toronto. He's irritable, immature and unapproachable. It's no wonder Sheldon Keefe was calmer when he was fired. Dealing with Marner sounds like a headache on a good day.
The other thing here is if Marner had a hard time playing for Sheldon Keefe, How is he going to handle playing under Craig Berube? My guess would be not very well.
Marner is a talented player don't give me wrong, but for somebody in their mid 20s, making millions of dollars putting up lots of points in the best league in the world scrutiny comes with the job and if you can't handle that especially in market like Toronto, maybe you shouldn't play in Toronto.
When you're in the NHL, your job is to do one thing, win. That's why everybody is playing or a part of a franchise. It's the common goal. If an NHL head coach has to coddle you that says more about you as a player than it does about the coach.
