The Tampa Bay Lightning are certainly not the team that was so dominant for so many years. Their fall from grace was predicted as their core got older, but I don't think anyone saw their decline happening so rapidly. This year, they might not even make the playoffs.
With that being said, injuries have not not helped their cause, in fact, head coach Jon Cooper has provided an update on multiple key players who are injured; take a look.
Both defender Haydn Fleury and forward Tanner Jeannot are injured and will be out of the lineup tonight, with Fleury being listed as day-to-day for the rest of the regular season it seems.
Jeannot on the other hand, is closer to returning and has been viewed as a key piece of the Lightning since he was acquired from the Nashville Predators for a massive price.
Jeannot, 26, has played in 42 games for the Lightning this season collecting just 6 goals and 6 assists for a grand total of just 12 points.
Cooper is hopeful the latter returns at some point on the team's current road trip, but they're barely hanging on to a wildcard spot, if they continue to slip, it's very possible they don't even get in.
