According to Elliotte Friedman's daily waiver update, the Minnesota Wild have officially decided to send the 30-year-old center Devin Shore to the Iowa Wild in the AHL.
However, Shore will need to clear waivers before joining his team's AHL affiliate club.
Friedman shared the news on X:
Shore, drafted 61st overall by the Dallas Stars in 2012, has been limited to 12 games this season, often a healthy scratch. He's yet to score a point this year in the NHL but tallies 10 points in 14 games in the AHL.
In his career, he played 455 NHL games for the Dallas Stars, Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers, Seattle Kraken, and Minnesota Wild.
It seems unlikely that Shore gets claimed on waivers, considering that he was never able to establish himself as a full-time NHLer after all these years.
The Wild have been one of the best teams in the NHL so far this season. After 31 games, they have a 20-7-4 record and 44 points. They're only one point behind the Winnipeg Jets at the first rank of the Central Division.
After David Jiricek's acquisition from the Columbus Blue Jackets, the team seems to have other big plans ahead of the trade deadline. By sending Shore to the AHL, they freed up nearly $1 million on the salary cap, which will likely be put to good use by general manager Bill Guerin.
Meanwhile, the Wild will be back on the ice Wednesday against the Stanley Cup champions Florida Panthers. By then, we'll know Shore's fate.
An update on Shore's status will be released tomorrow at 2 p.m. E.T.
