The Battle of Ontario wrapped up tonight but not before things got out of hand, with the Ottawa Senators leading and Ridly Greig going in on an empty net, winding up and taking a slap shot. Obviously you're breaking the code , but Morgan Rielly snapped and cross checked Grieg in the head; take a look.
Morgan Rielly tossed for going after Ridly Greig after a goal. 5 min major and game misconduct for cross-checking.
Obviously, taking a slap shot on an empty net at the end of of the game is classless, but Rielly can't crosscheck Greig there.
There will be a suspension incoming as Reilly was given a 5 minute major and a game misconduct for cross-checking, but the question becomes how many games? Rielly doesn't have a history, but it's the Leafs and the league seems to be tough on them to start.
