Major League Hockey (MLH), a new 3-on-3 league that was supposed to be up and running this year has postponed it's launch after a controversial call for tryouts
It seems a lot of people saw something like this coming, but were just waiting for the official word. Major League Hockey, or MLH, a new 3-on-3 league that was supposed to get off the ground this year has decided to postpone it's launch.
In a news release, MLH announced the delay to it's inaugural season, citing health problems for CEO Max Chambers that need to be dealt with.
"MLH did not make this decision lightly, as its investors and team worked tirelessly to bring this innovative and exciting new 3-on-3 product to life. However, postponing the launch is the best course of action due to unforeseen medical challenges regarding the CEO's health and the need for additional time to ensure every aspect of the League meets the highest standards.
The fourteen coaches and GMs, already under contract, will use the upcoming season to scout Major Junior, NCAA, and USports games. Each agreed that it was better to wait until October 2025 than to rush into 2024 without the League's CEO."
Those 14 coaches and GMs have never been publicly named. Max Chambers has a history of making promises and not delivering. That includes supposed attempts to buy teams in the NHL and other hockey leagues. Just recently, the MLH attempted to hold tryouts for players, but ended up cancelling them after initially charging a fee for players hoping to make the league.
Chambers claimed to have millions of dollars backing the league from private investors. He was also promising teams in major cities throughout Canada and the United States. Chambers' name has shown up over the years as a prospective buyer of the St. Louis Blues, Phoenix Coyotes, two minor league teams in Florida, and the Vancouver Grizzlies of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).
