NHL announces partnership with major headwear brand starting next season
One of the most popular and well known headwear brands is entering a partnership with the NHL starting next season.
On Tuesday morning, the National Hockey League announced that they've partnered with Buffalo-based New Era to produce and distribute hats around the globe for all 32 teams. The multi-year deal between the NHL and New Era will begin ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
"The National Hockey League (NHL) and New Era Cap, LLC, the international sports and lifestyle brand, today announced a multiyear agreement that grants New Era rights to produce and distribute globally headwear and apparel for the League and its 32 teams. The agreement begins with the 2024-25 NHL season."
This news is great for fans across the National Hockey League who had to buy hats made by Fanatics over the last several years. While not all of Fanatics' products turned out poorly, some of their hats they produced in recent years haven't been received very well. Whether it be the logo being too small or not a lot of effort put into the product, fans weren't happy with Fanatics' hats.
Here are a couple of examples below which feature small logos on their hats or their products not looking the same as what people ordered online.
New Era's CEO Christopher H. Koch says he's excited for his company's deal with the National Hockey League and to have the opportunity to produce hat for all 32 teams. Koch says that New Era has had deals in the past with individual teams, but is looking forward to being able to grow the brand globally alongside the National Hockey League.
"This partnership brings together two global brands, working together to grow a global game," said Christopher H. Koch, Chief Executive Officer of New Era. "While we have been working with individual clubs for decades, we are excited for our new agreement with the League and look forward to creating special moments for fans and players in North America and around the world."
It's unclear when the New Era hats for all 32 teams around the NHL will hit the shelves, but it's safe to say it'll occur before puck drops in October, so keep your eyes peeled.
