NHL's Most Hated Forward and Player who Bit Brady Tkachuk's Hand Signs Professional Contract
Whatever happens to him, Brendan Lemieux will always be remembered in the NHL as the guy who bit Brady Tkachuk's hand during a fight a few years ago.
Last Friday, the Carolina Hurricanes decided to terminate his one-year, $775k contract, after the forward spent the whole season in the AHL, scoring two goals in 12 games with the Chicago Wolves.
In a new development, we learned that Lemieux has already signed a new contract in pro hockey only three days after the Hurricanes' announcement.
Indeed, he signed a three-year contract with the Devos Hockey Club in Switzerland.
Read a translated version of his new organization's statement here:
"HCD is thrilled to announce the immediate signing of Canadian forward BRENDAN LEMIEUX. Welcome, Brendan! 💙💛"
Jan Alson, Devos HC's Sports Director, commented on the team's latest acquisition, qualifying Lemieux as a perfect addition to his team who stands out with his passion and intensity.
In his own words:
"Brendan is a player who stands out for his intensity, passion, and will to win. With his player profile, he is the perfect addition to our team and will offer our coaching staff further options."
"HC Davos is convinced that Brendan Lemieux, with his mentality and NHL experience, will play a central role in the record champions' ambitious plans."
Unless he decides to come back to North America after his contract with Devos HC expires, Lemieux's career in the NHL could be over.
Drafted 31st overall by the Buffalo Sabres in 2014, the 28-year-old forward took part in 307 NHL games for the Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers, Los Angeles, Philadelphia Flyers, and Carolina Hurricanes. He scored 36 goals and 28 assists between 2017 and 2024 while tallying 548 penalty minutes.
We wish him the best in the next chapter of his career!
