After comments regarding threats from the New York Rangers made recently by Jacob Trouba, GM Chris Drury has attempted to set the record straight

The story of the trade of Jacob Trouba is already one that will be remembered for a while after the NHL defenseman accused the New York Rangers of threatening him before a deal was done with the Anaheim Ducks.

Jacob Trouba told reporters following his recent trade that New York Rangers GM Chris Drury sidestepped his no-trade clause by threatening to put him on waivers if he didn't accept a deal.

Now, New York Rangers GM Chris Drury has broken his silence on the tactics used to facilitate a trade. He admitted he played hardball.

"It's my job, and 31 other GMs' jobs, to try and do everything we can to help our team. There's things at our disposal in the CBA. I'm not trying to mess with players. I have a ton of respect for Barclay [Goodrow] and certainly, as I've said already, for Jacob. I'm just trying to do the best I can to move the team forward and make changes that I think are necessary."

The Rangers waiving Barclay Goodrow last summer had also come up in conversation another situation Drury potentially didn't handle well.

There are already talks regarding possible changes being made by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman over how the whole Trouba trade went down.

For now, Trouba gets a fresh start with the Anaheim Ducks and continues to make $8 million a season for this one and next. The New York Rangers get $7.2 million in extra cap space they can use.
