Head coach Pascal Vincent has been fired by the Columbus Blue Jackets after just one season, cementing the new Don Waddell era for the team

After just one full season of coaching the Columbus Blue Jackets, Pascal Vincent is out of work. The team has announced they've parted ways with the 52-year-old.

Newly-minted General Manager Don Waddell made the announcement. It is the first big decision of his career with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

"I spent time with Pascal over the past few weeks, I found him to be an outstanding person and smart hockey coach who worked very hard last year under trying circumstances, but I believe a change behind the bench is in our team's best interest. On behalf of the organization I want to thank Pascal for his work ethic, professionalism and contributions during his three seasons with the Blue Jackets."

Columbus went a dismal 27-43-12 under Vincent last year. He can hardly be blamed for the team's downfall. Vincent got the job after Mike Babcock was hired as the Blue Jackets coach and then resigned before the season even got underway.

"'No one has a nice thing to say about the guy he got what he deserved.'

The OverDrive guys discuss Mike Babcock being out as Head Coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets."

Waddell said he will begin the search for a new head coach immediately. Vincent was the third head coach canned by the Blue Jackets since April of 2023.
