While it's been close to a year since the death of Adam Johnson, a former NHLer killed after taking a skate to the neck during a game in Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). Police have said little about the investigation into the incident, but have recently provided up update on their work.

According to the latest reports, the police investigation into Johnson's death is ongoing, and Petgrave has had his bail extended until Nov. 11, 2024.

"On Monday, police said a man, who was initially arrested in November, had been bailed again until 11 November.

A spokesperson for the force said: 'Our investigation is ongoing, and our thoughts remain with Adam's family.'"

Adam Johnson was killed when he collided with Matt Petgrave in October of 2023. Petgrave's skate came up during the collision and hit Johnson in the neck. Johnson, who played 13 games in the NHL, all with the Pittsburgh Penguins, tragically passed away on the ice in front of 8000 hockey fans. While Petgrave was arrested and granted bail, he has yet to be formally charged in the incident. Johnson's death has led to several hockey leagues either strongly suggesting, or making it mandatory for players to wear cut-resistant clothing under their gear during games.

A commemorative plaque for Adam Johnson has been installed outside Motorpoint Arena where the Nottingham Panthers play their home games.
