A 2024 Stanley Cup champion has made the decision to change agents amid a lack of offers in free agency so far.

The NHL's free agency period is well over a month old at this point and there are still several notable names available on the market, including Nick Cousins, who is coming off a Stanley Cup championship with the Florida Panthers back in June.

Cousins saw a dip in production in both the regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs when compared to the 2022-23 campaign, along with his repeated dangerous hits that leave his team in a tough position. It's not hard to see why Cousins doesn't have a contract as of yet, but one will come before the 2024-25 campaign commences.

Because of the lack of offers in free agency so far, according to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, Nick Cousins has decided to change agents and is now represented by Craig Oster of Newport Sports.

Oster's clients include Rasmus Dahlin, Erik Karlsson, Matthew Tkachuk, Sam Reinhart, Kevin Fiala, Erik Cernak, Mark Scheifele, Mark Stone, Shea Theodore, among others. In total, Oster has 69 clients under contract and making a combined $215.9 million for the 2024-25 season.

As the summer rolls along, some of the more notable unrestricted free agents on the market, including Not only is he hated by most around the league' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>Nick Cousins, will have to consider their options head into the 2024-25 campaign. Cousins may be forced into a situation where he'll have to settle for a professional tryout contract (PTO) and prove himself at an NHL team's training camp, while another option could be heading over to Europe, hope to play well there and try to earn an NHL deal for 2025-26.

Last season, the Belleville, Ontario native put up 15 points (seven goals, eight assists), 64 penalty minutes and was a plus-one in 69 games. He also added one assist in 12 playoff games, en route to winning the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers.
