The Edmonton Oilers had a rough start to the season. Ever since that stretch, though, they've picked up their play, at one point winning 16 straight. They are now 6th in the Western Conference. The Oilers are looking to buy at the deadline as they could be looking for a piece to get them over the hump, and they could be linked to this winger.

Insider Jim Matheson believes St. Louis Blues forward Pavel Buchnevich could be headed to Edmonton, as they are scouting him and are interested.

Pavel Buchnevich is 28 years old and was a third round selection back in 2013 by the New York Rangers. Buchnevich is having a good season with 22 goals and 24 assists, tallying up to 46 points in 54 games with St. Louis. The forward has two years left on his deal at $5,800,000.

So, what could a deal look like? Well, Matheson believes that a deal would be similar to the one that sent defenseman Mattias Ekholm to the Oilers. For reference, they gave up defenseman Tyson Barrie and a first round pick, along with some other assets to get him.

Buchnevich is currently running with a spot on the Blues' first line, and would probably make the Oilers first line, replacing Warren Foegle and playing up with Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman.
