The rivalry between the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils heated up Thursday night. At least it did in the stands.
While the Rangers were visiting New Jersey, two people in the crowd started arguing over something. It eventually led to a person in a white Jack Hughes Devils jersey delivering a headbutt to another spectator in a black jacket. That's when punches started to fly and other fans joined in.
Despite being in New Jersey, the New York Post said that fans started taunting the person in the Hughes Devils jersey as he was taken away by security.
"Go home, buddy, go home," one fan yells.
"You headbutted him," another yells.
The spectator who got the boot made sure to flip the finger to other fans as he was being led out. Seems like a real nice guy.
One thing is for sure, the Devils-Rangers rivalry is alive and well both on and off the ice, but I have to ask: what's the point In spending all that money on a ticket, to a game that always seems to deliver no matter where the two teams are in the standings just to get kicked out for fighting? Fans should leave the fighting to the players on the ice.
