Elliotte Friedman Reveals the Surprise Team that will Shake up the Trade Deadline
Elliotte Friedman shocked fans with a new statement about which team will set the tone this year during the NHL trade deadline.
With all the interesting players set to be available on the trade market before the deadline, it seems most teams are waiting to see what will happen in the League before making their moves.
After a busy week on the trade market that saw Mikko Rantanen, Martin Necas, J.T. Miller, Marcus Pettersson, and many others switching teams, it has been a relatively quiet few days.
According to a new insight from Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, some teams could be waiting until a specific team makes its moves before finalizing deals.
Indeed, Friedman revealed that the Buffalo Sabres could be the team to set the tone for this year's deadline.
The Sabres have many interesting assets that they'll be looking to part ways with and apparently have their eyes set on other key players.
In Buffalo, players like Dylan Cozens, Bowen Byram, and Alex Tuch could be available.
If they were to trade one or all of them, they could get something valuable in return that could help reshape the team, which has been struggling once again this season.
They are rumored to be interested in Elias Pettersson, in a trade that would truly end an era in Vancouver and bring a wind of change to the Sabres.
Friedman spoke out about that possibility a few weeks ago:
"I think the talks on Pettersson continue, and I believe that one of the teams that has really shown a lot of interest is Buffalo. There are others, but the Sabres are definitely in there."
With the 4 Nations Face-Off coming up, it'll be interesting to see what will happen in the NHL. Players may be enjoying a break, however the team's management won't stop working behind the scenes to bolster their teams.
