Zach Werenski Shares Heartwarming Memory of Johnny Gaudreau in Latest Interview
Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski shared a new story of Johnny Gaudreau today, highlighting the late forward's character.
It has only been a few months since the hockey world lost Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau but it feels like it has been a lifetime.
Their absence from the sport has been felt around the NHL as the first season without them starts to gear up for the playoffs.
We have seen plenty of tributes to the brothers from across the NHL, with many leaving fans in tears to this day.
We have even seen an effort to honor Johnny by renaming one of the NHL's annual awards.
Perhaps what has been even more touching is all the personal stories we have heard from the Gaudreau brothers former teammates, family, and friends.
Today, we got another heartwarming story about Johnny from his teammate Zach Werenski, who shared a story with former NHL defenseman Jason Demers about his first season playing with him.
"My first year he actually used to drive me nuts because he'd be the last guy to show up to the rink and the first guy to leave. I was like, 'Why is he doing this?' It was just because he wanted to get home to his wife and kids... What I learned the most from John is, go to the rink, enjoy it, be there for an hour or two hours, do your stuff, get what you need to get, and get out of there. Get home and be around the ones you love."
This story perfectly aligns with Gaudreau's stellar reputation as a family man. He continues to be missed by his family, friends, teammates, and fans.
Rest in peace Johnny and Matthew.
