Darcy Kuemper shares first photo of gruesome eye injury that nearly ended his season
The Colorado Avalanche are fresh off a Stanley Cup victory, and they did so in large part due to their next man up mentality. This was evident when starting goaltender Darcy Kuemper got struck in the eye by the inadvertent stick of Nashville Predators forward Ryan Johansen that sidelined him for the rest of their first round series and again in game 1 versus Edmonton in the West Final.
Now for the first time, days after winning the Cup, Kuemper shows everyone what his eye really looks like and it's gruesome
No wonder he had trouble seeing in game 1 against Edmonton in the west final. It's a wonder he was able to play in the 2nd round series and the cup final as well.
There seems to be one common theme between all Champions, you do what you have to to try and stay in the lineup to help your team. Still props to Kuemper, that looks horrific. Hopefully he has the off-season to fully recover.
