Toronto Maple Leafs looking at replacing TJ Brodie with younger defender from the Metro Division
Since the Toronto Maple Leafs hired Brad Treliving to be there General Manager there has been a belief that a major change would happen to the Leafs roster. More specifically there was belief that the Maple Leafs would look to make a major change to their defense core.
With training camps set to start in 6 weeks the Leafs have yet to upgrade their defense. Instead the only change made is the addition of John Klingberg, a purely offensive option. Today though, a rumor surfaced linking the Maple Leafs to Columbus Blue Jackets derender, Andrew Peeke.

Additional information has the Maple Leafs looking at Peeke as a possible replacement for TJ Brodie.
Over the last two seasons Peeke, 25, has played 162 games and has posted 8 goals and 20 assists. Peeke is a purely defensive dman, starting nearly 70% of his shifts in his own zone. Peeke has E years remaining on his current contract paying him $2,750,000 per season.
While Peeke could certainly save the Maple Leafs some cap space, he would definitely be a downgrade over Brodie defensively.
