New York Rangers could be landing spot for Anaheim Ducks Trevor Zegras
Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras has been the topic of trade rumours since the trade deadline last year and the reports have only intensified during an offseason where it's almost guaranteed a blockbuster move will happen before the 2024-2025 season, but whether it will involve Zegras or someone else remains to be seen.
While the Winnipeg Jets, Carolina Hurricanes, Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers believe to be interested in acquiring the services of the twenty-three-year-old Bedford, New York native, it has been noted that only Hurricanes and Rangers may have made an offer. If reports are accurate, Carolina offered a package that included RFA centre Martin Necas. The Rangers on the other hand were believed to have discussed sending twenty-three-year-old right winger Kaapo Kakko and twenty-four-year-old centre Filip Chytil.
Whether the Rangers, who went on a long playoff run last season but fell short of the ultimate prize could attempt to swing a deal with the Ducks and keep competitive remains to be seen. With captain Jacob Trouba also rumoured to be on the way out but not to the Ducks as they're on his No Move Claus and the pending long-term signing of goaltender Ilya Shesterkin still needing to happen even if a year out it's anyone's guess.
Could the Rangers benefit from bringing in another young forward like Zegras? Definitely. Is it worth the gamble based on what has been reported about attitude? That's the million-dollar question and a gamble you take for hoping your team can be successful
