Twenty-five-year-old Carolina Hurricanes centre is an RFA heading into the offseason and even if there have been rumblings that the Hurricanes and Necas are heading for a messy divorce in the sense that his rights will be shipped to a team more suited to meet the Nove Mesto na Morave, Czechia natives demands, it's possible and likely that come training camp he will be back in Hurricanes red for a duration of one or two years.

According to reports new Hurricanes General Manager Eric Tulsky is quite confident either way with regards to the player and where his fate lays. While he believes Necas will be playing in Carolina for the foreseeable future, he recognizes that there is a process that is in place that must be played out and whatever happens, happens.

But if the Hurricanes are expected to sign Necas after an arbitration hearing, it could land in their favour as it is believed he could land a contract in the neighbourhood of around $6.2 million which the Hurricanes could handle and with the understanding many other teams have the flexibility to take on that type of contract if it gets to that point.

The fact of the matter is that it seems as if Tulsky is taking everything in stride and is preparing for a life with and without Necas as is the case that most if not all general managers would do if in this same situation. But for now, both parties are in a holding pattern and taking the wait-and-see approach.
