One team that'll be interesting to keep an eye on leading up to the deadline is the Minnesota Wild, who have had a very poor start to the season, which led to them making a coaching change, replacing Dean Evason with John Hynes.
There are a handful of pending unrestricted free agents on the Wild that could draw interest from teams around the National Hockey League and one of those players, according to Jimmy Murphy of Boston Hockey Now, is three-time Stanley Cup champion Patrick Maroon.
Murphy says that he's hearing Maroon's name out there on the trade market more and more and that he doesn't fit into the system that John Hynes is trying to have the Wild play. Murphy also mentioned that Maroon is a name that the Boston Bruins should consider checking in on as a replacement for Milan Lucic.
Maroon, 35, was dealt to the Minnesota Wild in July, along with Maxim Cajkovic, after spending the previous four seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning, winning a pair of Stanley Cups with them in 2020 and 2021.
So far this season, the St. Louis native has appeared in 26 games with the Wild, recording 11 points (three goals, eight assists), 20 penalty minutes and has an even-rating.
