Boston Bruins Captain Brad Marchand Leaves Game With Injury After Scary Collision on the Boards
The Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand left Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins with an apparent injury after a scary collision on the boards.
With less than a week to go until the NHL trade deadline, Brad Marchand could be on the last stretch of his days as the Boston Bruins' captain.
His future in Boston is uncertain, and what general manager of the team Don Sweeney recently said wasn't particularly reassuring, but at least stated that we should have an answer soon:
"We've been in negotiations with Brad and communicating with him throughout the year. We'll have to have a conversation now that 4 Nations is over and sit down with Brad and his representatives to have a clearer path in the next two weeks as to what his final outcome will be."
It's unclear how the rest of the season is going to unfold in Boston. The team is currently not in the playoff landscape, still four points away from a wild card spot.
On his part, Marchand had a pretty realistic vision for him and his team. Like any good leader does, he remains focused on his team's success:
"We may not achieve what we want to this year, but that doesn't mean we can't build to achieve something greater [down the line] & bring it back next year. We're gonna work every single day to improve & we'll claw & fight every single game to get into the playoffs."
In a crucial game, the Bruins visited the Penguins on Saturday afternoon, only to see captain Marchand leave the ice in the first period after a dangerous hit from P.O. Joseph.
Check out how it went down:
Marchand's health will be interesting to monitor considering all the trade rumors surrounding him. If he were to miss some time, it would make things a lot harder for Sweeney.
