The Boston Bruins have started to build momentum as of late, but with Trent Frederic set to his free agency this summer, they are now taking calls on him.

Trent Frederic has seemingly improved every year in the NHL with the Boston Bruins, and now the 26-year old is heading into free agency this summer expected to draw plenty of interest.

That interest has started early however, as the top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed that teams continue to call Boston asking on the availability of the talented young centre.

"There are some names out there that people are hearing from," said Friedman. "One of them... that's Trent Frederic of the Boston Bruins, unsigned for next year.

"Bruins are getting a lot of calls," said Friedman of Frederic. "He's a guy that's definitely got a lot of interest."

Last season, Frederic had his most productive campaign at the NHL level, posting 18 goals and 40 points in 82 games played, and with the physicality he brings to the game, it's easy to see why teams are interested.

As for the Bruins however, they lack plenty of star power up front, and with Brad Marchand set to hit free agency as well, they have some huge decisions to make, and some of those may need to be made very soon.

After a slow start, Boston are now 16-13-3 on the season and right back in the Stanley Cup Playoff hunt, but if they can't get an extension locked in with Frederic, it doesn't make sense to lose him in free agency.

With so much change, this season has been a whirlwind for the Bruins, and if they can play their hand correctly here, it could be a huge boost for them moving forward as they look to push for a Stanley Cup.
