Insider reveals Swaymans asking price it's way higher than you think
Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman is coming off another season where he split time with Linus Ullmark, and with an overall record of 31-15-9 between the regular season and playoffs, Swayman and his camp believe it's time that the pending RFA gets paid. What makes matters more interesting is that Swayman and his camp believe he's worth about the same as 2020 Vezina Trophy winner and current Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck.
Swayman, has had a remarkable run with the Bruins since entering the league during the 2020�2021 season; however, his success, especially the last three seasons, could be in large part due to the fact that Ullmark has split the load evenly, and for the most part, night in and night out, he's had a competent team in front of him.
With the understanding that Swayman will likely be the guy moving forward as rumblings persist in regards to Ullmark's departure, not to mention the emergence of Brandon Bussi with the Providence Bruins of the AHL, it puts General Manager Don Sweeney in a good position with quality goaltenders at his fingertips.
Whether Swayman is worth the same amount of money as Hellebuyck is up for debate, and whether the Bruins would pony up that kind of money is unknown; however, in all likelihood, if they want to remain relevant and successful and keeping him is a priority, which it should be, they'll do whatever it takes.
