The Hurricanes bowed out of the second round of the playoffs this year after being eliminated by the New York Rangers.
It's no surprise that changes are coming, amid all the speculation, particularly around forward Martin Necas, Waddell had a message for his farther to wrap up a question on the Necas trade rumour; take a look.
Necas, 25, has been rumoured to be on his way out the door as he's not likely to sign an extension and the Hurricanes with many bigger names to worry about. In 77 games this past season, he scored 24 goals and added 29 assists for a total of 53 points.
Waddell's response was likely tongue in cheek as amid rumours of a sign and trade, but it could also be seen as the general manager knowing that he won't be returning to Carolina. The sign and trade would make the most sense as Necas is a restricted free agent and would likely go to arbitration.
The Hurricanes have a lot of work to do and it's clear that their forward group will look vastly different by the time next season rolls around.
