The Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman have been at a contract Impasse for sometime. In fact it's been the talk of the off-season and as the regular season approached, it turned into how long is the holdout going to be.
However, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman have agreed on a new contract that will see him stay with the Bruins for the next eight seasons.
After reports surfaced that the Bruins had essentially low balled Swayman and his camp, the two sides have agreed on an eight year $8.25 million AAV extension that brings Swayman back into the fold with the start of the regular season just days away.
Swayman , 25, played in 44 games for the Bruins last season, collecting a record of 25-10-8 to go along with 3 shutouts a .916 save percentage and a 2.53 goals against average.
In the end, the Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman were able to come to an agreement that keeps both sides happy for a long time.
Until this point with Swayman holding out, there was significant concern that the Bruins weren't going to have a solid goalie going into the start of the regular season. Especially with how public things had turned out to be. It seems, though that the Bruins, despite all the media attention did the right thing having Swayman on the Bruins makes them an instantly better team.
The deal itself is right around where I thought. The two sides would come to an agreement, especially considering the seasons Swayman just had. Now, everyone in the organization and the Bruins fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
