Legendary announcer Jack Edwards announces retirement

Jack Edwards has been the voice of Boston Bruins for as long as most fans can remember. For many modern Bruins fans, Edwards is the only voice anyone has ever known. Edwards is a fan favorite and beloved by most Bruins fans.

However, in recent years the announcer has seen his ability to call the play impaired. Fans have noticed that Edwards voice has begun to slow and has ruined the flow of his regular game falling. Fans have shared their concern for Edwards as the quality of his game calls have dropped significantly.

Edwards have previously said there was no underlying health issues, but today Edwards made the tough decision to announces his retirement.

After 19 years as the @NHLBruins Play-by-Play broadcaster, Jack Edwards has announced his retirement following the 2023-24 postseason games on NESN.

The Bruins shared the following post on their X page:

Jack, you have been the voice of a golden era of Bruins hockey.

Over the course of two decades, you brought passion and authenticity to the NESN broadcast each night as you narrated so many unforgettable moments and memories for B's fans across New England.

As you enter your next chapter, we thank you for all you've done and wish you and your family the very best.

Congrats on a great career Jack Edwards.
