Now, that has been confirmed by NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, who broke the news that he was being moved to the New Jersey Devils, just a day after it was confirmed that they will miss Jack Hughes for the rest of the season.
Now, TSN's Chris Johnston has confirmed the return, with the Ducks netting a prospect and a second-round draft pick for the 33-year old, two-time Stanley Cup winner.
Frank Seravalli has now revealed the full details on the trade, noting that it will be a 2025 second-round draft pick with the prospect being former third-round pick Herman Traff.
In 61 games for Anaheim this season, Dumoulin has tallied 2 goals and 16 points alongside a solid +2 differential, showing that even with just youth around him, he can continue his steady play and lead a team to some success.
What this trade also proves is that it is definitely a sellers market, as a second-round pick is a fantastic return for Anaheim, who is in the final year of a contract that pays him $3.1 million for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.
This move for the Devils also shows their willingness to continue going for it even without Jack Hughes, and with the news that Dougie Hamilton is week-to-week, this is a solid insurance play for a team that will continue their chase for a Stanley Cup down the stretch.
