The Buffalo Sabres are 0-7-3 in their last 10 games, and things have gotten so bad in recent times that owner Terry Pegula had to fly to Montreal to hold an emergency meeting with the organization.
While the message coming out of that meeting was that the ownership group believed in this current group, their actions state otherwise, as the team have now scapegoated goaltender Devon Levi.
According to their social media, the team have sent Levi back to the AHL after giving up five goals against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and while he's yet to find his consistent footing at the NHL level, it's hard to see this as anything but a shock reaction to their meeting.
In 38 NHL appearances over the past two years, the Sabres top prospect has put together an .896 save percentage and a 3.24 GAA, and while those aren't great numbers, he needs time and patience to adjust to the NHL, something that the Sabres don't seemingly have.
Unsurprisingly, fans in the comment section quickly called out how this would continue to hinder the 22-year old's development, especially when looking at a team like Calgary and how they've handled Dustin Wolf this season, it's easy to see the major difference.
With their start to the year, it appears the Sabres are ready to add another missed year to their current 12 year Stanley Cup Playoffs drought, so while Levi hasn't been able to save the poor play in front of him, it's still a shock that this team aren't looking to develop him in the NHL after this latest move.
