Well, it was widely known that Chicago Blackhawks cornerstone centre and captain Jonathan Toews was likely coming back to play the last games of his NHL career and while that hasn't been confirmed, he won't be returning to the Blackhawks.

Chicago general manager Kyle Davidson just confirmed that the team will not be re-signing Toews in the off-season. Take a look:

I've had a number of conversations with Jonathan throughout the season about his future with the Blackhawks, and recently we had the difficult conversation that we won't be re-signing him this offseason. Tonight will be his final game as a Blackhawk, and it is very important to us to be able to provide the proper send off Jonathan and our fans. He has done so much for this organization, and no matter where he plays next, we're excited our fans get the chance to show Jonathan exactly how much he means to them

From the quote it sounds like Toews is interested in continuing his career, he's previously said he would consider retirement after this year.

Through his 15 year career all with the Blackhawks he has play in 1066 games collecting 371 goals and 511 assists for a total of 882 points.

With his final game with the team and maybe his NHL career tonight, this really marks the end of an era in Chicago Blackhawks history.
