Columbus Blue Jackets officially acquire another 1st round pick
With the NHL Playoffs set to start in 2 weeks teams are officially starting to lock down their playoff spots. Last night both the LA Kings and Edmonton Oilers locked down their playoff berths. That was good news for those teams, but also good news for Columbus Blue Jackets.
At the NHL Trade Deadline the Blue Jackets traded goaltender Joonas Korpisalo and Vladislav Gavrikov to the LA Kings. In return the Kings sent a conditional draft pick and Jonathan Quick to Columbus.
With the Kings officially locking in their playoff slot the Blue Jackets will officially receive the Kings 2023 1st round pick.
This deal gives the Blue Jackets a second 1st round pick in one of the deepest drafts in recent memory. This should certainly help expedite their rebuilding process.
