Edmonton Oilers Have Found Their Next General Manager
Edmonton Oilers CEO Jeff Jackson has found the franchises next general manager, but it's not who you think it would be after all.
The Edmonton Oilers have been without a General Manager since parting ways with former GM Ken Holland on June 30th when his contract expired. CEO of Hockey Operations Jeff Jackson has handled things as the franchise went through free agency. Jackson appears to have found Edmonton's next GM, someone that he has admired for quite sometime.
According to reports the Oilers are expected to name Mark Hunter as the next General Manger of the franchise as early as next week.

Mark Hunter has owned the OHL's London Knights for the past 20 years with his brother Dale. Mark spent time as head coach and general manager of the Knights. He left London for a period to become the Director of Player Personnel for the Toronto Maple Leafs. After four years working for Toronto, the Maple Leafs and Hunter would agree to mutually terminate the contract and Hunter returned to the Knights.
Due to Hunter's success in the OHL with the Knights, many teams have inquired about bringing him back to the NHL over the years. CEO Jeff Jackson has landed who he has been chasing for quite sometime. Hunter will step right into some big decisions with superstar Leon Draisait entering the final year of his contract next season. The best player in the world and the Oilers' captain Connor McDavid will be a UFA at the end of the 2026-27 season.
Hunter will have some franchise altering decisions to be made in the very near future.
