Jeff Jackson accused of being a coward after recent social media decision
Jeff Jackson accused of being a coward after recent social media decision before hiring Stan Bowman.
This morning the Edmonton Oilers made it official and announced the hiring of Stan Bowman as the team's next General Manager. The decision came after former General Manager Ken Holland left the franchise leaving the vacancy. The decision to hire Bowman is a controversial one, after his involvement in the Kyle Beach scandal as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Despite the work Bowman put into the franchise, fans still wonder how Bowman could give Brad Aldrich a letter of recommendation, despite knowing the accusations against him. Aldrich would go onto re-offend in a role with a high school team, a role directly tied to Bowman's letter of recommendation. While fans were hoping to voice their opinion, it appears Jeff Jackson was prepared for the backlash.
Last night when news began to leak, Jackson made the decision to make his X account private. Fans immediately began to react to this decision and let the Oilers' brass know how they felt about it.
«I made a great decision everyone should be very happy about and to showcase that I am going to go private so I can hide from the overwhelmingly positive responses I'm getting.»
Jeff Jackson going private last night on Twitter is such a coward move. You want to hire Bowman? Fucking own everything that comes with that, including the fan response. Don't like it? Then don't hire him. What a joke.
All this tells me (going protected) is that Jeff Jackson does in fact see the tweets and that they get to him.
He knows this move will be wildly unpopular.
Vent your disgust.
the sequel to the Mighty Ducks where Gordon Bombay covers up one of the worst sexual assault scandals in pro sports history and is court ordered to GM the Edmonton Oilers
This is clear that fans are unhappy, and while it is absolutely Jackson's right to go private, this timing does really create a question of his decision. Only time will tell if this was the right choice for the organization, but for now, this decision is going to be heavily scrutinized.
