The NHL Alumni Association announced the passing of former Nhler Gene Carr at the age of 72. Drafted 4th overall in 1971 by the St. Louis Blues, Carr would have an eight season career during the 1970s.

His most successful season was in 1977-78 when he scored 19 goals and 56 points in 80 games split between the LA Kings and Pittsburgh Penguins.

During Carr's time in the NHL players didn't wear helmets, allowing Carr's blonde flow to become a well known trademark of his.

Carr was known to hang around a celebrity cast of characters that included the rockband The Eagles.

In 465 NHL games, Carr scored 79 goals and 215 points. He suited up for the St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers, LA Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins and Atlanta Flames

Everyone at BladeofSteel send our deepest condolences to the entire Carr Family at this very difficult time.
