Over the past couple of season, few teams have had to ensure injuries like the Montreal Canadiens. The team even underwent an overhaul of its medical department in hopes of reversing course. However, even before the 2024-25 season begins, the Habs are announcing injury news.
According to the team, forwward Rafaël Harvey-Pinard has undergone surgery on a broken leg. There's no word on how or when the injury was suffered. Harvey Pinard, 25, will miss at least the first two months of the upcoming season.
After going on a run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2021, injuries have piled up again and again for the Habs. It's gotten so bad that the number of injuries among team members has become somewhat of a meme on social media.
In September of 2023, the team announced major changes to its medical staff, hiring two new people and giving three others on staff a promotion. Jeff Gorton, Montreal's Executive Vice-President of Hockey Operations said at the time he was confident players were receiving the proper care.
Harvey-Pinard, a 7th round selection of the Montreal Canadiens in 2019, has just started to find a more stable spot in the NHL. He played 45 games with the Habs last season, scoring 2 goals and 10 points.
