The soon-to-be twenty-two-year-old Rempe has been trolled by college-aged women, according to reports. While this could all be good fun, he has done his best to take the attention in stride, and although it's evident that he's viewed the content, he's taking the high road by not responding to it.
Being thrust into the spotlight, especially in a market like New York, can be daunting for anyone. Rempe has done a very good job keeping his head down and just doing the job the Rangers expected him to do. Does it make sense that he's receiving the wrong attention? No. Are people well within their rights to get his attention? It's hard to say, but within reason.
On one hand, this behaviour full on feels like stalking, and you'd have to think that this woman needs some help, but maybe she's the type of person that feeds off attention?
Professional athletes have always had admirers, and too be honest, a fair share have gone over the line, but in the age of social media, it's reached a level never before seen, but how can it be stopped or policed? The short answer is that it can't and won't. But for Rempe to be able to deal with it the way he has shows that he's far more mature than maybe anyone has given him credit for to this point.
