If not already, the Anaheim Ducks and Trevor Zegras appear to be heading for a messy divorce. With a trade chip like the twenty-three-year-old centre from Bedford, New York, you'd have to think that if he is actually available to be moved, the cards are in general manager Pat Verbeek's hands. But maybe not so fast.

Zegras, who will be entering his fourth season in the National Hockey League with the Ducks, was consistent, playing in seventy-five and eighty-one games two out of the last three seasons. Then injuries plagued him, which limited him to fifteen games during the last campaign, and his production fell off.

A team that is looking into injecting some scoring into their lineup is the Montreal Canadiens, and with their long list of prospects, it could make sense, but are they willing to part with Kaiden Guhle or David Reinbacher? Probably not.

While it is uncertain whether Zegras has played his last game for the Ducks, it certainly looks that way. It's become evident that Verbeek isn't afraid to make a move to improve his club, as he pulled the trigger on sending Jamie Drysdale to Philadelphia last season, so who knows what his plan is next? The only thing that is true is that eventually the Ducks can't use the excuse that they're in a rebuild, but when is enough, enough?
