Mika Zibanejad has not been at his best for New York this season, and amidst reports he is unhappy, David Pagnotta has now revealed he may be open to a trade.
With their seventh loss in their past eight games, the New York Rangers slump continues, and the further the team slip down the standings, the more likely General Manager Chris Drury is to make a move that shakes up this organization.
Initially, the expectation was that star forward Mika Zibanejad would not waive his No-Movement Clause, with the veteran forward seemingly happy in New York, but now it appears his tune may have changed, especially after the team recently sent a message to him with a lineup change.
According to a report from Insider David Pagnotta, Zibanejad is now seemingly open to a move, and while the team are yet to approach him with a potential move, the belief is that unless things change, that could happen in the very near future.
«Pagnotta reported on Monday that Zibanejad would be open to waiving his NMC for the right environment. It is unclear, however, if #NYR and Zibanejad have discussed which teams he would accept a move to, but that conversation could come if Drury finds the right fit.»
With 21 points in 36 games played this season, the numbers have taken a massive dip for Zibanejad, with several people calling out his clear lack of effort as the team has completely crumbled around him.
Given that New York still have eyes for competing, they could use Zibanejad and another asset to find a top centre replacement for him, and knowing James Dolan and the Rangers organization, it's safe to say that if a deal makes sense and No. 93 is ready to sign off on it, don't be shocked to see something happen soon.
