Despite a positive start to the 2024/25 season, the New York Rangers world has been turned upside down in recent times, with reports emerging that GM Chris Drury wanted to shake things up, naming Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba as potential trade candidates.
Since that point, nothing has seemingly gone right for them, and what seemed like a possibility, now seems inevitable as the team need to change the core around if they want to take the next step in 2024/25.
It's unclear at this point what teams are interested in acquiring who from the Rangers, but according to Elliotte Friedman, the Ottawa Senators may be the team to watch when it comes to a potential trade.
With the Rangers looking to improve their top-six, speculation involving the Senators could mean some big names are on the move, and with Ottawa looking for a consistent goal scoring threat, they're a logical destination for Chris Kreider.
There are many possibilities that haven't even been thought of yet too, with the likes of Vincent Trochek, Kaapo Kakko and so many other unexpected names potentially on the trade block.
Ultimately, the Rangers need to make a change after the way their season has spiralled out of control, and with Ottawa looking to go all in for a Stanley Cup push, they make perfect sense as trade partners.
