Podcast shares the incredibly petty thing John Tortorella did after getting into screaming match with player
On a recent episode of the Missin Curfew podcast with hosts Shane O'Brien and Scottie Upshall. O'Brien was telling a story about an incident that occurred when he was with the Tampa Bay Lightning and teammate Dan Boyle had a freak accident cutting his wrist tendon with his own skate.
Boyle was doing an interview and put his skates on the shelf in the stall when one of the skates accidentally falls off the shelf and cuts Boyle's tendon on his wrist. The defenceman was supposed to be out 4-6 weeks but came back early.
Tortorella originally tells Boyle he will only play on the powerplay but ends up playing him over thirty minutes a night. Boyle ends up reinjuring the tendon in his wrist and can't play. The pair won a Stanley Cup together in 2004.
The very next game day Tortorella had the trainers take all the pictures of Boyle with the cup down from the dressing room.
Boyle goes into Torts office and has a huge shout off with the head coach:
"FU Torts we won a Stanley Cup together and you take my pictures down!"
Tortorella returned behind the bench with the Philadelphia Flyers after a season break. There weren't many controversies from Tortorella this season so maybe he's calming down with age, but prime Torts was something else.
