The Philadelphia Flyers' playoff hopes are hanging by a thread in the Eastern Conference, just weeks after having what seemed like a firm hold on the third spot in the Metropolitan Division.
On Tuesday night, the Flyers made the trip up north to take on the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre and it certainly wasn't a performance that a team in the playoff hunt should be having.
Led by a hat trick from 2022 first-overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky, the Montreal Canadiens went on to dominate the Philadelphia Flyers, blowing them out by a score of 9-3 in the final meeting between the two clubs this season.
During the third period, one Flyers fan in attendance was not happy with the team's performance and decided to throw their jersey onto the ice at the Bell Centre.
Despite the loss, the Philadelphia Flyers are only two points back of the Washington Capitals for the second and final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, but will have to pass over both them and the Pittsburgh Penguins just to get into that position. The problem is however, the Penguins and Capitals have a game in hand over the Flyers, making tonight's game against the Canadiens a potential season-ender.
It'll be interesting to see if the Philadelphia Flyers make any changes this summer, whether they make the playoffs or not, especially in terms of head coach John Tortorella.
