When you have a team filled with stars and veterans, it can be tough for the young guys to get ice time. It seems one of those young guys, a top prospect with the Toronto Maple Leafs, is looking to move in order to get more games.
Nick Robertson was a second round pick of Toronto (52rd overall) in 2019. Since that time, he's managed to get 31 games regular seasons games in the NHL, and another four in the playoffs. Sportsnet Insider Elliotte Friedman said Robertson is looking for more, and there seems to be interest.
"One guy Philadelphia has had some interest in before has been Nick Robertson and Nick Robertson might be the kind of guy that could need a fresh start and will probably like one."
"I don't know how they would feel about him now. Unfortunately he has battled some injuries and some unfortunate luck the past couple years, but I do know that's a guy they've liked in the past."
One way the two teams may be able to make this work is if Scott Laughton goes the other way. Friedman said Laughton was close to going to the Maple Leafs previously.
"When he [Laughton] signed his extension in Philadelphia, I think TOR was pretty close to trading for him. Now obviously it's a different GM now so I don't know how [Brad] Treliving feels he seems to be the kind of player that Treliving would like."
This could be a beneficial exchange for both sides if they can make it work.
